What is GHI's Special Investigations Unit (SIU)?
The SIU is committed to detecting, preventing, and investigating fraud and abuse for all GHI products/plans. The unit consists of highly trained and experienced staff dedicated to fraud prevention.

What You Can Do
A few simple steps can help protect you and GHI from fraud, waste and abuse.
Review your Explanation of Benefits (EOB)
- Always carefully read your EOB and any paperwork you receive from GHI, even when no payment on your part is necessary.
- Make sure that you did, in fact, receive the treatments listed. Question any suspicious charges.
- Were insurance payments made for medical services that were not performed?
- Are the service dates correct?
- Do you suspect misuse of your medical insurance?
- Ask for an itemized bill before leaving your health care provider's office.
- Were you asked to sign a blank claim form?
Protect your ID card and number as you would a credit card. Never loan your ID card to others or give policy numbers or other identifying information to door-to-door salesmen, telephone solicitors or people not involved in your care.
"Free" health care services may not be
Fraud schemes can include billing your health insurance company for treatments or services you did not receive or those presented to you as having no charge. Do not provide your insurance information except for legitimate medical services.
