GHI Accreditations

At GHI, one of the most important things we provide to our members is peace of mind. Our plans have been accredited by the industry's leading accrediting bodies our PPO programs by URAC, and our HMO plans by NCQA. These accreditations instill confidence in our members that GHI is delivering on our commitment to be the best we can be. In addition, participating hospitals in both GHI and GHI HMO's network are accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

URAC Accreditation for our PPO Programs
URAC, an independent, nonprofit organization, is a nationally renowned leader in promoting health care quality through its accreditation and certification programs. URAC offers a wide range of quality benchmarking programs and services that keep pace with the rapid changes in the health care system.

GHI's PPO programs have received URAC accreditation in:

  • Health Utilization Management. This accreditation covers the procedures health insurers follow to ensure that members receive necessary care in the most appropriate setting. We first received URAC's accreditation for health utilization management in 2000, and we have maintained it continually since then.
  • Health Web Site. We were the initial health insurer to receive this first-of-its-kind distinction, recognizing quality and accountability in online health information and services.

NCQA Accreditation for our HMO Plans
The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to measuring the quality of America's health care.

In our most recent NCQA evaluation, GHI HMO was awarded "Excellent" Accreditation, the highest possible rating. This validates GHI HMO's efforts to improve the quality and expand the availability of health care coverage we offer to New Yorkers.
